I am building a harness for my power folding mirrors, but I need a little help figuring this schematic out..I've got the switch and computer, and I know the wire paths, but I need help with the symbols and such.

What power do I use? Do I need a new 12V power line, and do I need resistors to bring it down to 7.5 amps and 20 amps?? (looking at the GR wire off the Control Switch, and the W-R wire off the Computer). Can I use the stock power mirror power wire for the switch?? Kinda confused..

Does anyone know what the numerous "J/B" 's are? And, what is the blank box, labeled "F" on line W-B from the Computer, before the ground?

What are the numerous labeling boxes? (IC1, IQ1, IK1, etc) Simply labeling, or are they components??

Do I need any other electrical components (resistors, fuses, etc), or just run the wires correctly??

Any help would be awesome, thanks!

Just run you a fused 12V line. Alternatively you could tap into an existing circuit that is fused at 7.5A or 20A.
J/B stands for Junction Block. I am not sure what the F is on the W-B wire.
The other initials are just labels for those particular connectors to determine pinout locations.

Thanks for the info...what exactly are all the junction blocks?? Do I need to worry about these at all?

They are of no concern as far as wiring your mirrors. It is just a reference letting you know that wire of the circuit is branching out to suply power to something else.
Example:
You have a set of 5 lights on one circuit all powered by the same fuse. Bulbs are good. Fuse is good. You have a good ground. 4 of the 5 lights come on. 1 doesnt. That is when I would want to find the junction block or split.

Ahhhh, I understand now, thanks. I think I've got all the connectors, in-line fuses and wiring that I need to get started, for the second time (first try ended whith the harness being too short, and lack of labeling messed up any chances of salvaging...not to mention the solid copper 20g wire didn't like to bend as much as stranded....)

Well I got the harness made, minus wiring in the 2 fuses, and the connector plugs that are still wired in the car from the first try lol.

To keep track of everything, I tagged both ends of each wire with it's own letter from A-R (not including the LG-R wire split), and mapped out the corresponding pin-outs.

I have it set up so the computer box is under the stereo (just enough room), and then 7 ft of wiring to each mirror...should work out perfect. I'll post a finished product pic sometime soon hopefully!

BTW, would anyone buy a complete harness like this??

Japan of course, lol...I bought these off of someone here on SM. If you buy them, make sure you get the computer and switch with it too, and it can get pricey.

Id buy a harness for an 88 if you made one. My car came with painted JDM mirrors installed, but not wired up. Send me a PM if you want.

Well I got the harness completed, installed and wired up, and the mirrors function completely! So the harness turned out just fine. Thanks again for the help along the way.

BTW, anyone have any clue where I could find the harness connectors for the mirror switch and the computer?? I don't think toyota sells the connectors, and I have no idea where I could find a matching plug...

I've been going through the TEWD, but I haven't spotted a 20A line that is on all the time.

Any suggestions where I can tap a 20A fused line that is on when the ignition is off? (I'm going to connect the mirrors to the alarm so they fold when the alarm is armed)

My best bet at the moment is the 30A fused door lock and then fuse that line with a 20A fuse.

When the alarm arms the doors lock and the mirrors will fold. Will I have problems running the locks and the mirrors of the same 30A line?

I never ended up making any extra harness's, but I thought that making my own wasn't all that difficult.

If you decipher the wiring diagram, ignore the JB's (junction boxes), and take your time, you can wire these up. It took some time, but it was great practice I think!

Oh one other difficult part was running the harness through both door jambs and into the door. Removing the door panel and fishing the harness through the rubber wire protector in the jamb with a coat hanger should do the trick...

I would be interested in trying to find the harness plugs; anyone have any ideas??
