New here guy's take it easy on me? Just sold my 03.5 Mazdaspeed and got 87 turbo with blown motor! My question is to buy JDM or save up and rebuild?Money is an issue but I do not want to drop $1500 on a JDM that needs a rebuild. If I decide to go with JDM what do I need to change to put it in my 87 turbo. Thanks!

Welcome!
You came to the right place.

IF time is an issue, go with a JDM unit. IT may end up costing you in the long run though, as you have no idea how the engine was treated before it came to live with you.

If you do a rebuild, you know exactly what goes in to the engine, although you must have some one that knows what they are doing! Its not a small block chevy and you can't have sloppy rod & main bearings and expect it to run forever...

not to hijack but what does a typical rebuild cost on a 7m?

I did mine for a little over $1000 in the bottom end... I got some good deals though... and I did all the work myself... but I agree with everyone else when they say rebuild... jdm engines are a mystery... but when you rebuild you know exactly what the motor has been through... plus its good experience...

do the rebuild...

Sorry to be off-topic, but what is the difference between the JDM and USDM 7Ms? Is the JDM more reliable?
