My brother just bought a 87 supra 5 speed with a jdm engine installed JDM 7M-GTE - 40k miles
JDM Turbo - 40k miles
JDM IC
Ported Exhaust Manifold
HKS Super Mega Flow Intake
Greddy Type RS BOV
5Zigen Catback
Hollowed Out cat
We haven't raced yet but I think his car feels faster than mine. We're going to race soon but I'm going to set the mbc at 8 psi.
My afm is bad, tps need to be adjusted, oil in the spark plugs. I replaced the valve cover seals. I don't know what's wrong with my supra. I was told the valve seals.
My engine has been rebuilt also 15,000 miles ago by ATK.
His car pull harder in 1st to 2nd gear

Fix your car before you race.

..that's my advice.

As for the JDM engine, I've heard that these are no better or worse than the US model 7M-GTE; the difference mainly being no EGR. Most people replace their thrashed US 7M with a Japanese one because either they need more than just machine work to fix their car and it would be cheaper to get a perfectly good, throw-away 7M from Japan, OR their car was a NA model and they bought a Japanese front clip to convert it.

Again, this comes down to the price, availability and ease of procuring and swapping a complete Japanese 7M-GTE front clip.

as medic said, the only real difference, aside from hose routing for the heater core, throttle body (because it's an RHD motor), and EGR, is that it's JDM tyte, yo.

they're the same stock horsepower, and torque as the USDM motors. and fix that TPS! every time you post you say it's still broken, and it's been like two months!
