ok i'm almost finished with my rebuild bled the clutch hooked everything thing up, had a small fuel leak fixed that but it won't turn over at all. battery has 11.9v and it still shows it even when i try and turn it over but it just sits there.

also after i try and crank it, i hear a hissing noise from underneath the throttle body. but no leak, atleast no leaking fuel. please any suggestion would be great

Did you lock and unlock the drivers door to reset the security system if it has one. This always stumps me for a few mins.. Just a thought?

If you have the factory security system, with the key in the drivers door lock with the door closed. First lock it, then unlock it. On mine, anytime you d/c the battery and after the alarm goes off after you reconnected the battery you need to reset..

Then push clutch in or put it in park and it should crank.. Otherwise you may have a problem somewhere else in the system. I am not saying that's what is wrong, but it has fooled me more than once. lol

i put the hood on so the alarm would reset and still nothing.

i also noticed that when it makes that hissing noise it makes my brake light barely show up when the key is out and the ignition is off, but it's very faint.

Alot of times when there is a fuel leak on the fuel rail it tends to run down the runner and sit where the flange connects to the block get a flash light and look down there. Do you have a 5spd . at that rate you smell the fuel though. It's not turning over at all?

oh, i didn't realize it was after the motor was off, and constant. (thought maybe it was a slight hiss, then died off)

no problem at least you replied.

but in the end the reason it wouldn't turnover was because the ground wire from the head to the firewall wasn't in and once i put it in it turned over and started. the hissing stopped too.

I'm with lagged. I vote CPS. My car made a hiss.. i think it was from the ISC valve? Anyways, after i got my issues with the CPS straight they went away.

Im having the problem right now, as i was resetting my CPS. Prior to the hissing noise around the ISC valve, my timing was way off. So, when i resetted the CPS per TSRM, then the hissing noise came about.

How can i go about this? And why does it do this?

11.9 volts is pretty low...especially with no load. you should be at 12.7 i believe it is with no load for a health battery. i am going to say you have a problem with your battery. volts are pretty irrelevant. you need to test and see to make sure you have enough power(amps) from the battery. Best to rule out the battery is jump the car. Go grab your parents/friends car and jump it and see if it starts.

If it doesn't...then make sure your connections are tight to the battery and try again.

if that doesn't work, then im afraid to say you may have some more serious problems.

i wouldn't worry about a hissing noise from the intake area...that's probably normal.
