Just got it all put back together after replacing a bhg. It runs but the idle jumps around alot and it usually stalls if I dont give it gas.

I know the ecu has to "relearn" since it was disconnected for a week. Its throwing no codes. I have to replace the intake mani gasket which will be in at the parts store at 4pm because the paper one in the kit blew out haha. Is that why its running so badly? Because the afm is reading air but its leaking out at the intake?

If I unplug the afm the idle jumps to 1100 and runs smooth.

Just wondering if I should check out anything else incase replacing the im gasket doesnt work. Right now its literally blowing air out from where the piece of gasket is missing.

Replacing your gasket should solve this problem, sounds like a huge leak as unplugging the afm made it better. You have to fix this anways so even if its not the problem you didnt waste any time. When you get the head back off check to ensure that the Head intake surface is straight, and recheck your intake manifold flange for straightness again. Probably not the only problem, but you know it and you need to do it so it is the first to address, then see where you stand.

Just replace the gasket vs playing "what if"...that game is not played in the Tech Sections. We need facts and right now the only one is a leaky manifold gasket that must be replaced.

If it runs bad after you replace it, then post. Thread closed.
