I've heard you can use the late 80's early 90's isuzu trooper timing belt on the 1j because its the same. Is there any difference as oppose to a original 1jz timing belt?

no they are the same thats why they are a cross-referenced part.

you can't buy 1J parts at a dealer which is why you cross-reference. unless you want to order from japan or australia and wait a month for it

The 1988+ Isuzu Trooper 4 cylinder 2.6 liter engine (4ZEL) uses the same belt as the Toyota 1JZ engine. So instead of getting a belt from Japan (~$100) you can pick up an Isuzu Trooper belt locally at an auto parts store for about $30 US. Make Sure You Get The 4 Cylinder 2.6 Litre Engine Belt!

Timing belt specs: 137 teeth, 25mm wide

Taken from the sticky.

because if it doesnt have a name like trust, hks or apexi on it, it better be OE toyota IMO.. I just dont trust companies the way I used to.

If you have a week, buy it from jeff whatson from champion toyota, for cheaper. you'll be surprised!

but if you can't wait, the isuzu belt is the same, and works fine.

Fluids, bulbs, filters and spark plugs, thats about it.. bought pads once that were by brembo. It all depends though, I understand the point you're trying to make Reap.

Although they are the same as far as Teeth and width. I push my engines to the limit and don't take any chance..... Just me and my anal self....
That's why I put a Greddy timing belt on my 240. I'd rather spend the $85. It's an extra $50 for piece of mind.

well thats cause you're a baller Drew. you don't count ;)

I wish I was. A baller is not the same as a hustler. I stay broke at the end of the month just like the rest of us. :wiggle:

Selling performance products and dealing with tons of enthusiast, I've concluded that an enthusiast is not the proper definition of what we are.
An addict is a more appropriate Noun to define us.....which support my claim above. A baller just has money to spare and gets good things to appease their desire and still have money to spare at the end of the day, an addict, a.k.a hustler, finds different venues to finance their addiction. IMany times giving higher priority to their addiction, then figuring out a way to still make ends meet,in many time not making it at all. Of this my friend I am guilty..!
