get a test light, disconnect the negative cable from the battery and connect the test light between the cable and battery then start pulling fuses.if you pull a fuse and the light goes out then you have a short in that circuit
make sure everything is off and doors close

It can be anything really, just to wires connected to a light source. They are cheap, any hardware or auto parts store should have one.

The is essentially what a test light is. Either that or get a volt meter.

Maybe I am reading this wrong, but if you connect your test light to the disconnected negative battery cable and the positive battery post, the light will never turn off, until the battery dies.

Another possibility is to leave the battery connected, get a volt meter and connect to neg and pos posts. Start pulling fuses, one at a time, when your volt meter jumps or goes back up to approx 12v, then your short is in that circuit. This way you can see the draw on the battery when you are pulling fuses. With the fuse out where the short is, you should see no voltage draw on the battery.

ok, I took out some fuses onder the driver seat and found nothing, whent to the hood and puule some and this is what I found,,,

sm_photo_missing.jpg

it said the dome on the fuse lid,, afte i hooked up the test light, one end to the neg terminal, and the other to the battery, still having the pos connected, I got a light on,, after pulling the dome fuse, the light dimmed for a sec , then whent out, is there anything else that that fuse runs besides the actual dome ?

christ just do it the right way!

Get a multimeter that will read current.

disconnected your negitive (or positve) batter terminal.

Hook your multimeter in line with the battery and batter cable

|Battery|---|DMM|---|Battery Cable|

like that.

measure the amount of current.

I think toyota says that anything upto 70 or 80 miliamps is okay, but I think that's extremely high. both supras here are around twenty miliamps. Make sure the car is OFF when you're doing this test.

if you have a high reading, then start pulling fuses until your current draw drops down to a normal level. then you'll have found your circuit at fault.

,,, thats how its just might happen................................................

Will

dont' be talkin like that, we don't know if you're serious or not :nono:

go get a multimeter that will measure current... there will be a switch that says 'amps' or 'a' or 'currrent' on there. get a digital display, its easy to use :)

If you want to measure current go get a clamp on current meter..It will be alot easier for you if you do not know alot about meter instead of trying to hook a digital meter in series. A clamp on meter has 2 jaws which you place around the cable and it will measure current. Go to OSh or home depot or wherever and ask the staff for help on the clamp on current meter and they will show you.

Cheers,
Roy
