so i might just be paranoid but i want to make sure this mhg is fine. its a titan 1.4mm btw.

here it seems to be stained by something or another. it isn't through the viton.

here some of the viton coating got rubbed off by shipping most likely.

Titan really needs to quit shipping their headgaskets sandwiched between two pieces of plywood without covering the gasket first. Well, thats what they did with one I bought a few years ago.
Its not too bad. As long as the area thats stained is not wore to the metal. Cannot tell from the picture.
You could always have them replace it if youre not comfortable with it.

id run it if i had it laying around. other than that i would buy a brand new head gasket as its soo important.

i'm going to run it. i just wanted to see what other people had to say. i figured ij, jdub, drjonez, or somebody would have seen this over the years. i think with a freshly machined block and head it will seal just fine. i guess i will find out.

A Titan = Cometic MHG.

Is the stained area rough?
If you very lightly press on the Viton in the stained area with a pop sickle stick, is the Viton still flexible? (compare to a non-stain area)

Where the Viton rubbed off on the ring should be fine.

^so jdub the stained area isn't rough at all. i actually decided i would see if it would wipe off with a paper towel and it did. then i check to see if the viton was brittle and its not. i have a feeling it will be fine. if i recall viton is pretty resistant and tough.

here are some pics of what it looks like now.

the bottom pic is another spot i noticed. that part isn't rough but won't easily wipe off so i don't want to mess with it too much.

what does the dub think?
