Is this block usable?

Ok so I'm talking to this guy about taking this turbo long block off his hands and he said it was cool if I checked it all out first since he got it from a friend for free. He said it had probably been sitting out in the guy's yard for awhile The cams don't look too bad the valves would definately need to been replaced, altho if it came down to it I could use the head off my N/A.
1. What I really need to know is can I still use the block, the spot for the oil filter is cracked and I'd like to know if it's fixable or if i can just go ahead with it.
2. I'm going to have to replace one of the coils, is there anywhere I can get one other than toyota?
3. What is that pipe for?

1. Maybe it's because it's 3am, but I can't see any cracks
2. Junkyard, they usually last a long time

1. looks like the oil filter mount threads are cracked, no real fix for that.
2. find a used one.
3. not a pipe, that's a torque strut (damper) found on the early (<'88) 7M.

ok thanks guys I was thinking it wasn't likely but I was hoping maybe I could fix it somehow. I talked to someone who said they could give me a coil so I'm covered there. Guess I'll check out the pistons and crank then find a new block.

I've seen the vibration/torque dampener on early 89's as well, the ones with the square motor mounts.
