Is my turbo ok?

While i was putting my motor back together I noticed the fins on my turbo look kinda chewed up. Can anyone tell me how shot my turbo is? There is a very small amount of shaft play. Or at least that what I think.... it barely wiggles, I dont know if thats a lot. Sorry for the blurry picture. Thanks alot for any help

you can do a search on this site that will tell you shaft play, but from the look of those fins.... I would get it rebuilt

yeah, when you have something turning as fast as a turbo even minor imbalances can result in major side loads on the bearings. i garentee that the blades didnt chip evenly on each side. rebuild.

Turbo is definately f'd , I would be more concerned on the condition of your engine after inhaling most of your compressor wheel.....

a friend of mine had a CT-26 that was in worse condition than that... he boosted fine till he sold the car. :dunno:

truth be told you can run it for a bit, it will fail soon. I bet an old cruddy accordian hose caused it.

You can though just find a spare wheel and have that replaced, if its got no shaft play you should do that. As for the peices, theyre either stuck at your ic or blown out your exhaust...

I had the nut fall off my non ct turbo that was fun.

I have no clue how it happened, I bought this turbo with my motor and it was used. The motor wasnt realy cared for so Im guessing the turbo wasnt either. Plus my accordian hose is a little brittle by now. Ill probably just keep running it for a little while untill I can find the time to rebuild it or the spare money to get it upgraded or even another turbo. Thanks alot for the help though. I just wasnt sure if this was normal of if there was a limit to how f'd up they could be. Thanks again everyone
