Went out to the dragstrip last night. First pass of the night both wheels spun when I did a burnout. Second pass only the right wheel spun. Is it possible that I broke my diff? I don't hear any grinding or crunching noises going. Car doesn't vibrate either. If I change fluid with a friction modifier will save it, or do I need to tear it down and have a look see?

BTW, I burnt out my clutch bad. I babied my car back home last night. If I stepped on throttle too much the clutch would slip.

My rearend did this once when I put Redline differential fluid in it. I was only doing one wheel burnouts. I emptied it and put some Advance Auto Parts fluid in it and it was doing two wheel burnouts again. Could have been something else that caused it, but that's what happened. Good luck.

Well, the fluid currently in it is old as hell. I bought the car back in 1995, and have never changed it. :icon_redf Car has been sitting for nearly 11 years, and I finally got it up and going. That could have something to do with it. Did you add any kind of friction modifier, or did your fluid already have it formulated in it?

The mk3 LSD is iffy at best. Sometimes it will lock together and do 2 wheels, and then half the time it will only send power to one.

The fluid is 16 years old?!

That may be a problem...

Get new fluid either for lsd or regular fluid and add the modifier.

Don't abuse it with that old fluid.
