is my car backfireing??

i want to knoe if its backfire im hearing i have a ssqv and test pipe and once in a wile after letting off the gas from 4 or more pounds of boost i hear this slight popping sound from my exhaust kind of sound like i ran over a bag of unopened chips??

lol nice description.

yeah, chances are that's a backfire, as i'm assuming you're not rerouting the ssqv back to the intake.

when you vent to atmosphere, the ecu goes rich for a moment to deal with the extra air normally dumped into the intake tube from the stock bpv, and the car goes real rich to compensate for said "air" that is no longer there.

I too have backfire because of my SSQV...don't worry about it, its actually safe...it just gives you bad gas mileage because of the "richness" just like what supra90turbo said. I kinda like the sound of backfire, it makes your car sound more intimidating. :naughty:

How is is "actually safe..."?

Im not saying that it is dangerous, but it can and does destroy things like exhaust systems, turbo's, ect.....

Safe meaning it wont destroy or cause anything to break in your car. Its totally normal.
