Is mounting an EGT probe in the turbine housing OK?

I usually mount EGT probes in the collector on the manifold, but I have a divided manifold so I'd have to run two probes to read both sides, which is pointless because I'm running a single scroll turbo on the manifold anyway. I was considering mounting the egt probe in the turbine housing inlet about 3/4" from the mounting flange. It's a VDO gauge and it has a threaded EGT probe fitting (1/4" NPT).

Anyone know if this is ok or if there's any reason why it's a bad idea?

It's a good location - just make sure you use a quality probe. If it breaks off, it goes straight into the turbine - that is not good.

Ok, thanks. I think the probe I'm using is good, but I'll look into it more to make sure.
