Is it a bad thing if you can hear your stock BOV?

Mine makes a noticable PSHHH every shift or when I left off the gas while under boost.. I never noticed it before (that I can remember, but I stored the car all winter). How can I test to make sure its still workign properly?

I'm pretty sure that would mean that it's working. That sound is when it opens to let pressure off so that you don't get compressor surge. I think the way to check is to blow through it?

Being a bypass valve I wasnt sure if I should be able to hear it or not... I'm sure its holding boost, I want to check and make sure its opening right I guess.

I can hear mine pretty good. I heard it a lot more once I added an intake and made my exhaust more free-flowing.

The way to test if it is working is to take it off the car and see if you can blow through it. If you can, it has failed, if you cannot, it is fine.

Don't do it while it's hot though... you can burn your lips (ask me how I know ).

its perfectly normal to hear it. you hear it alot better with intake and exhaust... every mkIII ive ever heard was kind of like a richochet blow off sound....

Yup, once I put on the K&N FIPK I was hearing it.

How long does your last? When mine goes off it last about 2 secs with 3 pfft.. so it go, pfft..pfft..pfft. It different than most people after market BOV which go pffttt.. with only one burst rather than 3 burst like mine. I don't know if that is normal or not but it doesn't give me any problem though.

O yeah I am trying to look for a shop in San Jose to fix or upgrade the CT26 to fix the seal since I am getting smoke at the end. Anyone know if there is one on the west coast where I can get one ct26 rebuild send to me and I send mine back in after I get it? Is this still going anymore or do people just get new turbo?

i wasnt ever able to hear mine...completly silent. Stock airbox will make it completly silent I beleive.

yeah thats the richochet sound i was talking about. every mkIII turbo that ive been in including mine with stock valve sounds like that. i think it sounds great.... and the hks super sequetial will sound like that but louder and a higer pitch....

yea my friend was driving next to me right after i put the k&n and downpipe, he heard it go off 3 times and just stared at me "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT DID YOU ADD TWO TURBO'S"
i always thought it was pretty damn weird too. but hey i geuss its normal
