Is 200psi on all cylinders bad or good?

Want to buy an engine at a wrecking place and hesitating because the guy said when he did the compression test that all cylinders were 200psi and above. It came out of a 92 7mgte with stock gasket could this be true?

headed been shaved and a stock thickness headgasket is my guess. since the head is now lower on the block the comp ration has jumped. depending on the price tag id go for it, and pull the head and go with a 2mm or thicker, casue i dont see it lasting under boost with that high of compression without detonation issues

only other thing i can see is hardcore carbon build up on the pistons making it read higher, or he put oil in the cyls to free the rings and there reading wrong.

according to the tsrm, the turbo motor should be around 150 psi is normal, but guys on sf are saying there motors are around 180 psi per cyl.

Either that, or he's making up numbers and he doesn't know turbo engines.
200psi is on the high side of a typical NA motor.

Thanks guys for the responce. Well it seems like a good idea to buy since he wants $600 for it without a turbo $50 more with. He said it has fuel problems so it might of been that. I' ll just change out the injectors and seals.I also thought that it was on the high side for a turbo motor. What type of signs should I look for when buying?

fuel problems eh? o/2 could be shot, or he has a tank of crappy gas. if you can look at it next time take a light smell of the gas filler, see if the gas smells rotten. fpr could be shot.

as for what to look for, check for the normal stuff, oil leaks, check hoses , check rad/overflow and engine oil. look in the piping for excess oil buildup etc, if you can pull the 3000 pipe and look down the throttle body with a flashlight, see how caked in blow by the intake is. check turbo for shaft play that kind of stuff. other than that not much you can tell without tearing it apart

if the rad is off see how rusty the collant pipes are, see if it has had water run through it for long periods of time. antifrezze has rust inhibitors in it
