Hey guys, im new here. Not really a supra fan because of their weight, but love their motors! So I am putting a 1jz into my 76 Datsun 280z. Right now it has a L28et swapped into it, but I want more. My plans are to convert the 1j to a big single turbo, run a FMIC, and Megasquirt for engine management, and of course mandrel 3 inch dp and exhaust. If anyone has some helpful links to reading about the 1jz that would be great.

My main questions are:

At what horsepower do the stock injectors max out?

What horsepower can the stock bottom end take?

Any weak points like the 7m has (i.e. HG and bearings)

Oh, what tha hell... i'll save you a search. :D

1. injectors will do 500rwhp, but that's REALLY!!!! pushing them
2. bottom end strength is unknown. Rumors and specualtions so far.
3. stock turbos will blow pretty quickly after 1bar of boost. 1JZ Hydro fan can be hit or miss.

could anyone tell me what the hydro fan is, or is it just a shortened name for something common?

The cooling fan on the 1jz is like some Camrys have :

They use hydrualic fluid and is computer controlled rather than just spinning off one of the pullys like normal 7ms have.

They are very efficient.

hell, even if you don't get it with your clip, get the hydrofan setup anyways. not that hard to source parts for it (i had to source parts for my hydrofan setup) and is very well worth it imo.

your running an extra powersteering pump w/ the hydro fan set up.. I guess it just depends on what your doing with your car as to whether to go with they hydro fan or the electric.
