intro: im 17 and i just bought a 1986.5 n/a supra

what are some things i should know about the car? i know a good bit about supra but i have only owned a 88 hilux and this supra, i have mechanical intellect and enjoy workin on cars, but have no passion for it to be a job. more like hobby. anyhow what are some ways to increase hp and keep it runnin strong besides regular oil and filter changes along wit brakes. wish it was turbo but the next will be turbo! thanks!!!

Make sure the chassis/suspension/brakes/engine are up to spec mechanically before you start adding power. More power = more broken parts on an old tired engine

nothin much and im glad i finally got my dream car! idk if its 20 some years old, its still a legend in my book and as far as chassis goes and body, its sound. but the engine has valve cover leak and it just so happens to be on same side as exhaust so it stinks.

THANKS!! Im glad there is ppl out here that look out for each other. never have that with any other car! AND YEAH I DO NEED SOME PARTS! but i have had alot of replies from ppl that part out cars so i been keepin up with on guy in alabama (craigslist reply) and i maybe able to get 6 parts for 60bucks (tail light,headlight/wiper combo switch,interior parts for around lock, exterior plastic scoop by window, and horn relay,and some lil stuff)

well i love cars and love pushing limits on hp (5hp briggs block on gokart-made 36.8hp before explodin, damn thing was turnin some rpms!) but anyhow i will have N/A and eventually have turbo model. bullet proof yota engine and i want to see about 450hp wit a hairdryer on 7m. and as far as headgasket, im lookin forward to it. engine on N/A has oil leak on valve cover so 2 birds one stone.

I bought my supra, and it included a BHG.. Man what a good deal! Usually you have to pay extra for that!

Just proper maintenance right now.Check your head torque and valve cover seal condition. Hell.replace them anyway!Replace cracked vacume hoses,filters(fuel should still be good)belts and the norm.
Use the "search" button to find answers,and don't get get discouraged when you can't find the answer.
Keep in mind that you own a 23 year old sports car,a heavy one,that is going to need alot of parts replaced
