Ok folks

As most of you know. The 7m-GTE engine currently has two options for crank pulleys. One is the stock OEM crank pulley and the other "option" is the unorthodox research UNDAMPENED crank pulley.

Well there might be a third option for the 7m-GE/GTE motor. The best part is that the A/C groove ring is removable meaning you will only have the alternator/water pump groove and the power steering groove. The pulley is made out of aluminum AND unlike the UR pulley. This one WILL BE DAMPENED AND TUNEABLE!!

Price is yet to be determined.

edit: edit also forgot to add a very important thing. This damper is SFI approved which means NHRA LEGAL!! ;)

THIS IS NOT A GROUP BUY NOR AN INTREST IN ONE. THIS IS GAUGING INTREST IN THE POSSIBLE AVAILABILITY OF A DAMPENED CRANK PULLEY FOR THE 7M-GE/GTE and nothing else

well.. i got good news and bad news

good news is. That I am getting this done for myself regardless of the intrest. Also in the good news pile is that it is WIP and should have engineer drafts by thursday to confirm.

the bad news is as with ANY other custom part. It will not be college student price. No way. We are looking at a minimum of $300 dollars and it will more than likely go up in price from there.

I would be interested to buy it (sometime in June). Possible to make it without AC groove at all? I lost my AC 4 years ago. AC-less folks will not be interested to pay for removable groove when they don't need it. Will help to reduce price as well.
Is it fluid filled ?
Thanks

i dunno much bout aftermarket crank pulley's and such

what will this pulley achieve, what is a dampened pulley in comparison to an undampened and basically just the overall advantages?

Thanks :D

Many people (including me) believe undampened pulleys contribute to main bearings failure. Dampened pulley cancels torsional vibrations of long 6-cylinder crank. If it is lighter then stock crank pulley your motor will rev easier and gain few HP across powerband

more than likely it will NOT reduce the prices. They have other application and the price is the same for three or two grooves. And it is not fluid damped. It uses elastometers to dampen which are tuneable by the end user for whatever RPM the users motor revs to.

BTW lets clear one thing up.

For the damper to MAINTAIN SFI certification throughout it's life. It NEEDS to be inspected and recertified EVERY YEAR (or is it two years) by the manufacture!!
