I have read on the forums about the distributors leaking internally (also happens to turbo Cam Pos. sensor). does anyone know if there is another solution to the leak other than purchasing a NEW toyota distributor or aftermarket replacement? I performed a search and came up with this

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44846

is there a similar one for the non turbo distributor?

My distributor just started leaking internally and is causing a misfire and fouling my plugs one by one.

If you're brave, you could pull it apart, get the seal number, do some cross referencing, and figure it out.

If not, I have an extra dist. laying around, and could probably figure it out over the weekend.

suprarx7nut Dumb question, but you're sure the o-rings isn't leaking, correct?

yes I am sure it is not the o-ring, not a dumb question because someone out there might not have checked that.

cuel- I am not brave enough since it is the only car I can drive right now, but in about a week or so that will be a possibility.

so I guess the answer to my question is do it yourself time.

If the leak is inside the distributor cap its coming from the small hole and that means the sealed bearings are leaking, the Oring would show a leak outside the distributor and down on the block. I bought my Beck Arnley rubuilt off ebay for less than 50.00. Mine was leaking inside through the sealed bearings and this caused the plastic of the electronics to become brittle and crack shorting it out.
