Well, among all the stressful moments I have had, I have finally managed to work some more time on the interiors. There's still a few more things missing, but I'll get to them as soon as I see how much $$$ I'll have left after buying weezl's targa brace (stopped working to pay full attention to college).

Anyhow, I would like to hear some opinions on how I have progressed so far on the interiors. And yes, all work has been done by me with the help of my mother allowing me to use the balcony for some of the paint work for some of the interior plastic panels.

I'm going to try to work on the main floor carpet next.... which I will try to do this weekend IF I have the time (which I'm not sure of, but if I have learned how to upholster smaller panels with curves and such, I know I can figure out a way to do the main floor without screwing up again).

Thanks for the opinions guys!

PS: If you want more pics, there's a ton more in the digi cam right now, but I only have it until tomorrow. So make requests before I have to give it back to my friend.

EDIT: I actually even had a question. Anyone know what I can do to deal with the steering wheel? I peeled it off completely down to the main rubber cuz the old leather was EXTREMELY worn down and it didn't match the rest of the interiors.

that grey/silver paint looks too shiney or something to me, it looks painted you know? i don't know if they have a matte paint or maybe something darker but i think it would have looked better, but still i give you an A for effort and it doesn't look too bad at all.

It IS painted actually. I like the glossy look. It's a special industrial paint that an upholstery shop showed me. I painted the dash over a year ago and left it without any protective cover of any sorts to see if it really worked. Tunrs out that the dash didn't wear out at all (even after some duct tape landed on it and smeared glue all over it).

It looks shinier than what it really is thanks to the flash from the camera. In fact, the roof shows up grey even though it's black (and it's actual fabric). Thing is also that the paint loves to reflect the flash back a bit too much. I tried the matte black....... didn't look that good. Tended to look grayish a bit.

These Sony Cybershots make pics look WAY too good. Even my dog, even though he is a dark grey/black color, looks greyer than what he really is.

So you used a glossy vinyl paint? I'm going to paint my intererior but I wasn't sure if I should paint it glossy, or paint it matte and then use armour-all after.

I once painted the interior of an Integra i use to own. I liked it for about six months but it would always get scratched then start to peel from the scratch. Never again would i do it.

Like I just told some guy over PM, I even dropped my g/f's cat inside for a while and even used her nails to try to scratch it off. Unless you really grab that damned cat's nails and REALLY try to pretty much break the damn door, it won't come off. Only way the paint gets damaged is if you scratch it with sharp stuff, and seriously guys, if you're smart and you love your car, you would kill whoever tries to do this. I've leaned against the door, rubbed off on it with dirt, accidentally hit it with tools, and it just all washes off. Good as new.

Since you asked for opinions, I definetly prefer stock.
The stock color was maroon or something. In spanish it's called "vino".

Sorry man, didn't get what you were trying to say.

Btw, on the panels, it's perforated leather. I'll take pictures of the different rolls of stuff I bought to do the whole thing today. I promise I'll post them up tomorrow (even the 3M spray glue bottle thing).

Um, there wasn't any silicone residue anywhere as far as I could see. But as far as "grease" (which was actually just a bit of residue) I used a spray that I forgot the name of. I should go down to the shop and ask the owner again.

No primer was necessary for the paint. In fact, I was playing around with primer and that paint once on an old panel I had lying around the house. I don't know, but it just didn't sit right. There MIGHT be a special primer elsewhere JUST for this, but I haven't seen any, the shop owner (who REALLY knows his shit, he does a lot of work for a lot of places here in PR) said that there was none and there none was needed. I've seen it myself and it's true. If you find a primer then feel free to use it, but I'm sticking to what I see everytime I go to work inside the car :)

Almost forgot, as far as the PLASTIC panels go, I did use primer. I used the green duplicolor one. Works like a charm for these types of applications. If done out in the warm or hot sun, and sprayed appropiately, it pretty much contours to the panel and doesn't drip at all. Not once did I have to use sand paper to fix one. After everything I used a clear varnish polyurethane spray to give it a clear coat and a coat of protection. It won't protect it from landing on pavement or rocks, but definately from constant touching and poking from curious people.

Then again, like I've said, you really shouldn't let anyone go around scratching stuff in your car.

Just noticed, the ALL of the grey panels are actually re-upholstered, not painted.

Also, to the one with the steering wheel cover, how did you go about stitching the whole thing? I only took stitching classes back in high school cuz the art teacher wanted us to sow instead of paint and stuff. But I honestly don't remember much about it (though I'm sure I'll pick it up again fast).
