Anyone else into "survivalism"? Maybe we could get an on-going thread.


Like... I've never hunted, let alone killed an animal, save spiders and squirrels that run under my car. But I've been researching things like how to slaughter chickens and field dress deer.

My next purchase is going to be a .22 rifle to practice with, and then eventually move up to something a little bigger.

Well i have the perfect survivalist house....miles from population, 4 acres or so of land, a deep spring and a well, room for at least 9 people (comfortably) and 3 sheep.

I'm also in a valley on the top of a hill, so i'm fine in case of tsunami

Highly interesting. Unfortunately, if the SHTF here... most normal people would have no idea what to do. Especially those who have no clue what is going on around them or are too slow or just slow in general ie: most of the average joe in american society.

Although, who knows... desperation makes anyone capable of anything.

Well, a good example would be the old, lame show Survivor. 'Oh noez, we're out of rice!' Well, if it was me I would have cooked up some muscles, some hermit crabs, a little coconut milk, some nice cooked plantains, and maybe have made a net from vines to catch me some nice shrimp. And they're starving... Idiots.

I watched the island episode wondering how such stupid people would even hope to survive if SHTF...

Heh. I have never seen an episode of Survivor.

It's sort of lame. My mom was addicted to it, so I had to watch a few years back. They had video of them swimming, trying to catch fish, and complaining about how hungry they were and how little rice they had left... They were swimming next to schools of nice shrimp and huge banks of muscles and clams and lobsters... That's a king's feast in and of itself, but they were starving... :nono:

.22s are fun to shoot, but i really like shooting my 32 special lever action.
