Well i got tired of having stuff in my glovebox...so i sold my afc2 and ill be going mapecu in about a month...and i decided to find another place for my avcr...now as some of you know im not one for having shit everywhere in the interior..so i do my best to modify stock pieces to house stuff incognito or at the least to make it look as stock as possible...

well after some brainstorming i took a look at my friends sunvisors while driving one day and it looked to me as though they were thick enough to house it PERFECTLY...

needless to say...i was MORE then right...im not sure if anyone else has done this...as i havent seen it before... but either way i couldnt be happier with how nicely this fit in there...

i went to the local junkyard cause i knew there was a supra there...and picked an experimental sunvisor off of it...they only had the passenger side but i mainly needed to see the mirror pocket...so that was perfect.

i got home...pulled out the mirror section...gutted an area of foam and ran the wire to the outside corner.... it fit PERFECTLY...

mind you this is a junkyard piece that was already coming apart anyways so dont mind the little areas where it looks like the cover is coming off...cause it is ;) i mainly did this to see how close and how FLUSH it would sit...

ill have to obviously extend the avcr harness a few feet but frankly it will be easy and worth it...ill also be adding some black or grey cloth as a backdrop so the rest of the foam and inside of the sunvisor cant be seen...

EDIT: just so everyone knows..this ISNT the visor going in my car...im actually looking for a set of good condition grey visors with mirrors on both sides ;) this was just the test piece :D

:naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Are you going to take off the lid section that you have to open? If not, that's going to be a pain in the ass to get a good look at.

The originality is there, but I wouldn't do it for fear of the extra weight making the visor sag eventually and the fact that since it is in a visor, there is not a really safe way to look at it while driving.

umm how much does it weigh like 20 cds. i have the passenger visor loaded with cds and it doesnt budge.
also
nice, thats cool to be thinking out side the box.

You don't understand my point. 20 CD's spread their weight evenly across the visor. Now, take all 20 of those CD's and put them in one pocket in the middle. Now, go do some spirited driving and I'm sure you'll notice a difference. ;)

1) you are the second person to say its gonna be hard to see there.... ummmm it will be as hard as looking at the mirror :dunno: think about it ;)

2) i dont plan nor have any reason to be looking at this while driving... its a boost controller not an afc...i set it and forget it ;)

3) the weight is next to nothing....not to mention i REMOVED weight with the mirror setup and the foam i removed.... i already tested it in the car and it stays no problem....

EDIT: 4) if any of you actually read what i wrote ;) you will see thats not the install for my car..that was just a test piece and it will be going on the drivers side visor....

thanks guys

Ok, I'm not one of the retarded people thinking it is going on the passenger side. I know it's going on the driver's side, but think about this; have you ever looked in a mirror on a driver's side visor while driving? If you have, you will notice that your eyes completely focus on the visor instead of traffic around you especially for anyone of 6' height or greater. There's a reason they don't put the mirrors in most of the driver's side visors of 89+ supras. All I was saying is that it would be dangerous to have a device you are monitoring to be in such an obscure location. What I say is just an opinion, and only an opinion. Will I ever do this mod? Hell no. Does it get points for originality? Yes, it does. I'm just warning you of the possible dangers, but if you aren't ever going to look at it while driving like you stated, I don't see why you wouldn't just stick it in the glove box.

heh....thats EXACTLY what i was gonna do ;)

and as for why not leaving it in the glovebox... this is what i wrote to someone who asked me that on SF:

1) i got tired of having to move it when i wanted to put something actually in the glovebox.

2) i HIGHLY doubt it will ever get stolen where it is now...there will be no way possible for anyone to even THINK its there unless its shown to them.

3) whenever i got pulled over i had to open the glovebox to get my registration etc...and BAM the avcr and afc were there and i was ALWAYS questioned about them...yeah i could put my registration elsewhere but this is better to me...
