Intercooler pipe help!!!!!

do you think 3" piping could be a psi loss problem having 400-hp??

^^^ you'll have more lag with larger pipes... it's more area to fill... plus if your outlets on your fmic or 2.5 just go with 2.5... but if they're 3 I'd just say stay with 2.5 b\c if your running stock turbo it's 2.5... thats what I'm running... minus the stock turbo...

Ok...what we're really concerned about here is flow. Think of it like this; psi is rate, pipe diameter is volume. Inceasing either will increase flow...how much (and how efficient) depends on the turbo you're using. In piping, the most restrictive section will determine the flow for a given psi.

jmcboost is correct...matching the piping will provide the least restriction for a given psi. That also means the intake/output of the intercooler...if you're gonna use 2.5" piping, the intercooler needs to have 2.5" intake/output. In our cars, it's usually the throttle body (assuming stock) that's most restrictive...it's 2 3/8" (60mm) in diameter on the side where it bolts up to the intake manifold. That's close enough to use 2.5" piping.

hey thanks to all!!! My intercooler has 3' inlet/outlet but thats because I got a great deal on it!!! So I will stick to the 2.5 piping and use a reducer for the inlet/outlet for now!!:naughty:
