Im in the market for a downpipe and was wondering what are the benifits / cons of a DDP with an integerated turbo elbow such as this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Down...014QQitemZ330157399170QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Vs a regular 3in with a lipp elbow? My other concern after installing my bros RT downpipe w/ a lipp is how difficult is it to get a ddp in? I know there wasnt a tone of room when putting it in his car? So what are your oppinions on the different styles/ brands of DP?

a divorced down pipe is supposed to flow better by having the wastegate gass flow through a seperate tube and the turbine gas flowing through a seperate tube this will keep the molocuels from smacking into eachother and slowing down exhaust gas speed, thus getting the gasses out of you car faster. with the 3inch turbo elbow the wastegate gasses and the turbine gasses all go through the same 3" piping all the way through the downpipe. im running the stock elbow with a 3" dp with no problem and had no problems with installation.

Kinda answered your own question...a single piece downpipe is more difficult to install, but not to the point you can't do it. A 2 piece (3" Lipp elbow & downpipe) is easier, but you still have to tighten the elbow to DP bolts from the bottom.

Not a huge difference in flow IMO...a DDP is the max flow you can get out of a 3" dia though. Be aware you may experience boost creep with a DDP on a CT-26. Theres been several cases where the wastegate port need to be enlarged iirc.

Well when we installed his I bolted the elbow to the DP first then slid it from the top. It went in really easily I was just wondering if having the extra width from the two tubes would make it much more difficult due to lack of space. I was leaning towards the DDP because of the supposed performance, but I do plan on leaving the CT-26. Wouldnt the wastegate vent more efficiently with the DDP? what causes the boost creep?

if you are planning on leaving the ct-26 i would suggest that you just buy a 3" downpipe and buy a 3" elbow and not get the integrated or ddp. Once you change from the ct-26 you will still be able to use the 3" downpipe just not the elbow. This will be much more cost effective, but if you have money to burn by all means go with the ddp. :icon_bigg

Any input on brands of DP? I know my brothers RT gave him some impressive power gains, I dont have much experience on with supra DPs past that.

I'd buy another of Randy's (bic performance) in a heartbeat.

I'd also never buy another elbow / dp combo, single piece for me all the way. SO much easier to deal with.

If you pick up the DDP, you may drop your plans to upgrade from the stock CT... :D

Well I was really leaning towards the one piece DDP but if it will cause boost creep on a CT (still not sure why?) then I guess Ill steer clear. How far down does the bic hang? I know the RT is supposed to sit higher than most others, which is nice.

You are aware of bolt on turbos for the supra right? They are compatible with the one piece DP's...

I like my megamouth DP. It's a one piece full flower, and doesn't sound like ass when the WG opens and dumps exhaust gases into the atmosphere (IMO).

i used a BIC DDP on my car and had a love/hate relationship with it. I loved the flow from it but when the WG opened cops in the next city heard me coming. On the other hand i loved blowing by ricers with their windows down with the WG open...gets the "oh shit its gonna blow" reaction

Everyone bags on open wastegate but no one complains about straight through exhaust with no cat or resonator?

Huge difference between sounds there my friend. I have a full 3" no cats, no resonator RSR GTII exhaust and it sounds nothing like an open wastegate.

rofl! i miss my wg sound... i run tms downpipe and the thing i hate about that is you just need to hope you never have to install/uninstall that sucker again! also use hks and tms 3 inch cat and pass colorado emissions with flying colors.
