I'm just curious but I happen to have a K&N drop in filter along with SOGI Poor man's K&N fpik mod where u like cut half the intake box up for better flow. Now would it be a better idea to go with the acutal full K&N FPIK. would I c a better increases in performance??? also has anyone ever tried any of these cheap 3" intakes off ebay like theses:

Just make sure you plumb in air from out front, and not hot air from under the hood. Hot under hood air will drop you approx 5 hp. I ducted air from the front grill area to the K&N, and made a box around it to seal out underhood air.
I felt the increase in power after the box was done.

The "sogi" mod works a little, but dish out the extra cash and go for the k&n FIPK, itll be worth it in the long run. i wouldn't suggest that you go with one of those 50 cents ones either, they are made out of practically computer paper! <<sarcasm..my friend has one on his camry and its pure CRAP

spend the extra money and buy the apexi, k&N, or blitz filter. Price may seem a little high but most of them can be cleaned and dont have to be replaced down the road.

I would buy one of those ten dollar AFM adapters, go to advance auto and get a K&N cone filter, put it on....then you have spent 70 bucks on an intake instead of $120 for the K&N FIPK

Nobody mentioned it, but I'm happy with the HKS SMF intake. Sure it's a foam type filter that can't be washed, but replacing the element costs the same(if not a little less) than cleaning/reoiling a K&N.

Don't forget re-oiling your pan too... using that filter.

i had the blitz on my car, and i loved it. plus its stainless steel mesh so just rinse, dry, and slap it back on when it comes time to clean.

The HKS doesn't filter, though. It looks nice, but it doesn't catch anything. and also, have you seen the surface area of the Apex-i? It's Tiny!
Go with FIPK, or the $10 adapter and a K$N from your local auto parts store.
Cold air is better, so open the snorkel hole, and build a heat shroud to keep engine air out. Just my 2 psi...

i use a hks smf and its not the standard element filter... im using the racing element which is even worse but hey more open and less oil.... never had a problem with my afm for two years. just change element filters with oil change since it only cost $15

thats kind of scary. i thought the SMF was bad enough but a filter thats worse would seriously make me a little concerned no matter how cheap it was

oh, and listen to jake, cold air = good, it makes the turbo and motor happy.

You should just get the Apexi. No oil, excelent power gain, and according to that one test it has pretty good filtering quality as well.
