if i have an intake manifold leak at the plennum gasket, what owuld be som of the symptoms? would it run rich, lean, at all?

the reason i'm asking is because i drove my car home from my friends house with only two bolts attatched. i seemed like it was running rich, because of the smell; but it was hitting fule cut as well. the car couldn't hold an idle and i had to shift verry early, at about 1500rpm.

Listen carefully around the area while the car is idling for a hissing noise.
A can of brake cleaner is handy here, spray it in the direction of the hissing noise, and if the car idles up, you've found your leak.

thanks, i know there's a leak now. i'll try the brake cleaner thing.

hopefully this is the only thing affecting the preformance of the car. if it is then it should be up and running today!!!!!!

lean at idle, rich at WOT

you can also have a lean misfire or a rich misfire depending on driving conidtions..

Just make sure you get Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner. As long as it's flammable, really.. Carb Clean would work too.
