Installing all my gauges (except 2 crucial ones) in my glove box?

well, there comes a time in a boys life when he buys a car with a bunch of goodies, without thinking twice, then realizes he leaves his car with his top off a lot just to run into a mall for a quick bite to eat, then it occurs to him, thieves are the scum of the earth.

now that i explained my problem well, i need some input with putting my gauges in my glove box. I have it planned that my wideband gauge will sit on the steering column, or damn near any spot my eye can catch it 24/7, and my maft pro unit will go down near my cd player. But after that, i need to find locations for Boost, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Oil temp and maybe a coolant temp if i decide to run one. After looking at my car, and realizing i hate pillar pods, does mounting them in the glove box, with the gauges being tilted, facing towards me is a feasible option to combat not only thieves, but also to hide from coppers when pulled over (believe me, they ask about EVERYTHING that you have in a 2 door GT car)

I do understand that there is the problem of not being able to see all the gauges, but if i were able to see all of them, how often am i really going to look through ALL of them. Wideband i want to be able to see constantly, maft pro not so much because it is a tuning tool, and the display is too tiny anyway lol. The oil temp is there just to make sure i do not boost when cold basically, boost will be set with maft pro, but the gauge would just give me a brighter, better, readout. Oil pressure is there to make sure i have pressure in the system, and to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. Fuel pressure is really not that crucial to watch as well.
SO what do you guys think? Also to add, i don't really feel like messing with the stock cluster again.
edit. i will get a egt gauge down the road as well.
Cliffs:
Bought a lot of gauges, no where to put them.
Loves targa driving and leaves it off a lot to get food, friends house, etc.
Afraid that thieves will take them because they're in the open.
Mounting in Glove box feasible?

well i'm glad i'm not the 1st. Theft on cars here from stereos to gauges is somewhat of a problem here. my alarm will scare most off but many will smash a window, grab a bunch of gauges and pull, then run off as quickly as they can before anyone can see them.

I got an idea..how about put your roof on when you eat next time. I would have thought that you knew a Supra is not to be left alone or out of site. (at least I never to do that with mine)
IMO, the glove box will be out of site out of mind but then it will be for the driver too.

No offense, but a 20 year old GT car is not something you would give 2 looks at normally. When i do go inside to eat i can always see it. But my point is, people can easily target me and my goodies, especially if they are out in the open, go to my house, smash my window with the alarm going on and run off, grab a bunch of gauges and run off.
And aside from the stock cluster, this car has not seen anything aside from stock parts all it's life. So now i am just looking for options.

It depends on how the cars is completed I guess but no matter. I assume your car is not in a garage when at home then?
Fuel pressure is definitely something you should be looking at IMO. When I punch it I always look at that and A/F as it is in plain site. Not ALL the time but I do look at it.

i thought of just getting a simple universal 3 pillar post and "cutting it to fit" the glove box and then fibreglassing it to the back side so that u can shut the glove box and hide them and flip it down when u want to read the data. make sure u have a good angle of vision though.

For that point why bother even installing gauges? Just to say you have them> you could twist them to no end. The glove box makes you take you eye of the road. Not a good thing.

Gauges are 100% pointless unless you can moniter them... If you want to put them in the glove box than just toss them in their and don't even connect them. I can't believe I actually agree with Duane...

i saw a guy do this quite some time ago:

he relocated his cc to the armrest.

then, he cut out the section of the center dash where the cc and ashtray was. he made a gauge panel and recess mounted it that empty area. finally, he made a cover that fits over it. it was just pressure fit, nothing real fancy. during driving, it was removed. then whenever he would park the car it was put on.

he also removed the factory stereo. made another panel for his vpc, boost controller, and turbo timer. instead of just a blank panel, he actually made the cover from the faceplate of the factory radio.

it was pretty neat. you looked in the car and saw nothing but a blank panel and a factory stereo system.

if i put guages in the glove box, they wouldnt be anything but maybe water temp, oil temp, and volt gauge just as metering systems for occasional glances. of course the oil pressure, wideband o2, and boost would be on the piller [and/or] in plain sight of the driver.
