It should also be noted that our cars don't take real kindly to BOVs, unless adjusted correctly (and some times this can be a real pain to hit the right spot) the car will bog down and possibly stall.
You say you don't know much about BOV's, so I would recommend doing some research as to there affect on our cars before you just go out and buy one. There is a good deal of information located in these forums on the topic, with a little searching you can find them.
It should also be noted that the recirculation valve that comes on our cars can hold a fair amount of boost, and work really well. So there is really no reason to replace the recirculation vale with an aftermarket BOV, except for the sound it makes, but you sacrifice a little bit of performance for that sound.
So unless you have large amounts of boost to hold or one of the ECU piggy backs that compensate for the overly rich situation that an aftermarket BOV creates, there is no real reason to get rid of the stock unit.
