i just got the viper 5900 alarm with remote start/keyless entry/etc....installed today at circuit city and everything was working fine, remote start worked fine with a clutch bypass, armed and disarmed. and i tested it several times when i got my car back. got home armed it. went back a few hours later to move it because it street sweeping the next day, the remote start doesnt work......i go inside put the key in, still wont start!!!!! i dont kno whats wrong, i couldnt call they were already closed....ill be calling tomorrow but at the same time, i really take it there unless i get towed. everything else on my car and alarm works fine: radio, lights, it arms and disarms but the car wont start.

if anyone has had this problem or might know what i can try let me know

thanks

All it takes is one of their crimp connections to come loose and it wont start. If you arent familiar with the wiring then get it sent back to them. They should be liable for the tow as they just did the install.

Did you have them disable the factory theft deterrent? Because If you tested it at the store, and they never locked the car for more than 30 seconds or so, It would never have armed. It may have armed when you got home and left it, and when you went to unlock it without the key, it'd disable the starter relay(I think). Try unlocking the car with the key after disabling the Viper, and see if it starts.

man I really hate the OEM theft deterant. It works but sometimes to well.

anyway, CC should have known of the OEM deterant system and either bypassed it or replaced it with the viper system.

I finally got to talk to someone but they said they have to call me back since the ppl who did it aren't working......

This couldn't have anything to do with like the ecu or anything like that right?

does leaving the battery cable unpluged for a while reflash the ecu, someone told me to try that and see what happens. and if the ecu resets would whatever tuning was done be gone?

Yes, but it only takes a little while for the ecu to relearn things.
However, If the ecu WAS the problem, resetting it won't change anything that would keep it from starting, as far as I can imagine. Have you yet done what I suggested?
And if that didn't work, have you checked the obvious, like your EFI fuse? Or checked to see if you have spark when cranking?
PS- you never mentioned if the starter is even turning over, or if it's just clicking.

Sounds like the good old starter kill in the factory alarm. Chances are the hacks at CC did nothing about the stock alarm and you now have 2 systems there. Lock and unlock your drivers door, see if you can start it then.

There's a way to get it to work with the stock alarm.

But i'd remove it, you have to ground the starter cut. hopefully someone chimes in.

i think it was the OEM alarm, and i didnt notice you saw to unlock with the key, but now my ecu has already been reset and i feel like an idiot for reading over the one sentence that would have solved my problem........
so now it starts, BUT im guessing the tuning is gone and its running super rich, it was running a little rich before and would stall occasionally, but now if i guve it gas and go to neutral it will stal almost all the time. you said it would relearn eventually, how long usually, and wold it remember the settings it had before? so i can at least drive until i get retuned?
thanks again
