Installed the DM IC kit

So I finally got around to installing the DM IC kit, old version, and for the first few days the BOV was working great, popping off at low throttle. I drive the car around yesterday and notice it's a lot quieter than normal but still pops off at higher psi 2+.

I have a few questions, with the fake HKS ssq on the piping how long would it last? Would it really start dying after a few days of driving it or did the spring settle inside it as to where it's not blowing off as easily?

Also, at part throttle getting up to speeds, I can hear it flutter around 0 psi as I shift. Would this cause damage to the turbo? I'm trying to get everything running perfectly before I run it hard or further upgrade it.

I can't remember exactly how long my lasted, but it died fairly quickly. If you can try to keep it away from high heat or invest in a better one.

I used a knockoff Tial for 5+ yrs, and it still works like new...
but, I guess that doesn't help you much...

I've got all the stock manifold heat shields on the car still.

i had a real hks ssqv
hated it
bought new and could never get it to open at low psi 1-2
sold it
now i have a blitz dd...loving it

I'm actually thinking about getting a greddy type S then just making an adapter for the hks bov hole.

Knock on wood -- my real one works fine where it's at. I do agree with Johna -- it doesn't open at low throttle...I hear more flutter/surge at low RPM shifts than I hear the BOV. Over 2+ psi boost it blows off fine.

Gotcha. That would suck being so close to the heat. Because of the way my turbo sits high, I had to custom route my cold pipe the way you see it (couldn't go over the turbo like a CT-26, so it runs right over my header). I also header wrapped it to cut down on the internal temp of it. So far, so good.

Relocate that hole or you will keep going threw BOV's I went through 2 fake hks and one real before switching the bov location

3 Knock offs here.. on my 4th & the check valve hasn't melted because its located behind the passenger foglight now.. im planning on going authenic soon though :naughty:

Well my BOV works at higher PSI but I don't like the flutter at the low throttle. I don't want my ct2657 with around 2k miles to get damaged from a stupid mistake by me.

when my knock off was located near the turbo it would do that.. then it completely stopped working.. relocated behind fog light... & i can hear a slight pshh at 2 psi... not as loud as when im boosting at a higher psi but it works.

Yep. This worries me too. I thought the BOV wasn't working at first, but then I've read and heard others do the very same thing, so it sounds inherent of the SSQV. I have a Greddy I thought about trying out, but just haven't gotten around to doing so.

My car is parked until I can resolve this.
