Or just to anyone that's curious...

I stumbled upon this video that really made me laugh hard for a minute.
It made me reminisce on the old DSM days and how funny it was when I first experienced the "Windshield wiper surprise" during a WOT pull.

 ...Kind of like how the guy reacts after the 50 second marker in the video. :biglaugh:

but i said fuck DSM's when i sold my 2g gst. supras > everything (except for 69mustangs and a 7m 240z hahahaha)

LOL, this was an infamously known problem for 1st Gen DSM owners (90-94)...

To put it simple, 1G DSM's that launch hard enough or (running 36psi on a GT42 in a 2600lb car) :biglaugh: launch so hard that the wiper blades kick on.

(Talk about a poorly put together car, eh?) ;)

No seriously though. If you've been in a really quick 1st generation Eclipse/Talon/Laser...Then you probably already know what this is.

And in the video, the wipers went off, as well as one of the wiper blades went flying OFF the car. I wish my car could launch that hard.

It's not physically forced by the wipers arm that does it...

Rather, I believe it's something to do with the acceleration of the car is so hard that something wiring related to the wiper motor just kicks on without hitting the windshield wiper lever...

Yes, the look on the drivers face is priceless LOL.

I just got a serious kick out of the passengers laugh and how hard he was laughing and pointing at the missing wiper....

Well sure...but I'm willing to bet that his car pulls harder in 3rd gear on a GT42 @ 36psi than most well-upgraded DSMs do from a launch.

IIRC, that's a 9 second car.

Dam thats funny. Befor I bought my supra I was looking into a DSM, but all wheel drive or front wheel drive not as much fun to drive as a rear wheel drive supra. Maybe after the supra is finished (like they are ever finished) I might look at another DSM

Wow.

So you've owned a 600hp DSM, currently own a Supra, and also have an RX-7 that spits 3ft flames???

Either you're full of it...Or you're the girl of my dreams.

Yes it is a wiring issue that turns the whipers on. I have seen mostly stock 1st gens do it when they launch hard enough, or hit a speed bump... or a curb...or just at random going down the road. Now ripping the whiper blade off, that's impressive.

You can 600 horsepower out of a car that weights roughly as my as my shoe?...

Why the hell didn't they sell it over here!? Wipers that turns on automatically would have probably been seen as an advantage with the weather we have here...

Be thankful don. ;)

Not to diss any of you guys who are current/prior DSM'ers. I get the dumb ass/douche bag vibe around them.

Sumeet, Over the years...I've got to say, there's idiots, professionals & people who just can't be taken seriously in just about every car scene.

I have all respect for Supras...but there are some owners out there I've met that just leave me dumbfounded.
On the other hand, In general, I absolutely hate Hondas, a majority of that hate going towards the owners...HOWEVER, There are owners out there that can carry on an educated conversation without sounding like a tool.

To Mr. DonS1mpson - If you've never seen the designs and are not familiar with the designs of a DSM (Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser)...
I won't say you're missing out on anything too special, But for a 2.0L 4 cylinder,
The 4G63 motor has set the bar pretty damn high in terms of design and capabilities.

........Now lets snap back to reality, here. We're Supra owners. :)

I'll agree, Jeff!

I know many owners from both sides, my favorite is the dude who took off his PCV valve and gave his motor a few rev limiter revs to "clean out" his oil system. :3d_frown: Or the local dude who ran brake fluid in his rad for extra cooling power.

But there have been many 7M/1JZ/2JZ cranks that have walked. We just don't tell the world about it. ;)

Her DSM is at my house currently. Was FWD, and was around 586whp, switching to an AWD shell. Yes, her foxbody is getting a vortech. Yes she used to own an na FB RX-7 that ran 10s and spat flames and her MKIII is down for its 2nd HG job.

BTW, she is single last I heard, so you are more than welcome to come to CT BoostLee.

You can get 600whp out of anything, hell I got a buddy that makes 415AWHP on pump and 17psi with a gt40r on a 2.0l block, cant wait to see what happens at 30psi on c16.
