Just when I thought that I could start enjoying the car, now it would not start.
I tried passing my emissions here in VA but due to the high NOX (JDM engine) it failed 2x so the egr system w/ cooler and the charcoal canister had to be installed. In these 2 emissions both the Hydrocarbon & Carbon Monoxide passed besides the NOX.
Over the course of the months that I had the car sitting, the battery went dead. While I had that also, the a/c evaporator was also replaced so I had to remove the glove box where the MAFT PRO base unit was sitting. I disconnected the lines to the MAFTPRO inorder to remove the glove box, ECU and other interior parts to get to the a/c evaporator. I then reconnected the MAFTPRO back when I put everything together.
After that, I went to get my 3rd try on the emissions only to fail. Now the NOX passed while the other two gases failed. Maybe b/c I warmed up the car for only 30 mins before driving to the inspection place for about 8 minutes and then was idling for about 15 mins before getting the inspection. It is now running lean.
Okay, so I decided to drive the car to my mechanic friend to have things checked only for the engine to stall a few blocks from his house. The engine is now misfiring when I pulled into his garage and when he tried to adjust the timing back to 10*, the engine turned off. It would not start at all. He checked and said that there is power going into the injectors but they are not pulsing. He then installed a noid light tester on it but it would not flash. Could it be that the MAFTPRO has changed the pulse switch on the injectors?
Other things that he checked to find the problem were the EFI fuse, main/head relay, ground connection under intake manifold, resistance gap of cam position sensor, battery voltage of ECU and ground circuit of ECU to block. All of these came out all good.
I need help on what to do. Does the Maftpro need to be reset after replacing the battery or the timing? I also do not know what software that the original owner used (NJsupraA70) or what parameters he used.
Thank you and I appreciate your input.
