Has anyone here used ING direct? What is your opinion of them? Anything negative/postive to say about them?

We're looking at getting a mortgage through them to buy a piece of property in BC... They have much better rates than the other canadian banks (5.10% vs 6+). Almost seems too good to be true, but i figure that they have been in business long enough that it would probibly be safe to "trust" them with an investment as large as a piece of property.

Thanks in advance.

I just had something in OT about them. They are great. Granted I have only used the savings account with 3.3% interest. I have never had any problems with them and all and for savings I would reccomend them to anyone. I don't know much about the mortgage aspect but I would expect that to be equally as good.

They are an honest business. They can give you better rates because they don't maintain branches like the other credit unions do - so they don't have to buy real estate, pay tellers, etc, etc. All that money savings basically goes straight into saving you money on your mortgage rate.

Of course, you can squeeze the same rate out of a bigger bank if you have enough leverage... as in, enough money that you naturally swagger from the wallet weight in your back pocket. :D
