impossible compression reading

What? Doing a compression check with my trusty Sears compression tester and I am now getting a reading of 240 lbs/sq.in. on number 6 cylinder...isn't that just not possible? Should be closer to 156...

Is the tester just not working? Has to be...engine runs good...no missing...good power.

I was checking for the blown HG and keep getting inconcistent/impossible readings with the tester.

try to borrow a tester from one of the auto parts stores and see if it repeats. if you're getting good readings on the rest, i'd say its correct.

This could indicate water in the cylinder, although it's unlikely, or perhaps some oil?
