Importance of turbocharger "stay" bracket under CT-26

During my rebuild I either lost mine or never got one with my GTE. How much does that stay support? I wanted to buy a new one from Toyota, but Champion said it was no longer available.

I was also thinking that everyone running an aftermarket turbo would have to go without this brace since it bolts up to the stock ct-26 directly and not the manifold. (As I understand it at least)

Anybody have input on this? I don't want to add undue stress to the manifold/head if I can avoid it, but I'm really not sure how much that brace really supports. I'm generally a nazi about removing stock parts so I don't like being without that brace...

It definately helps.

Look at it this way, all the weight from the turbo/manifold is sitting on the block / motor mount (where ever the brace connects to) instead of the soft aluminum head.
It just makes it more likely that the exhaust manifold threads will pull out.

PM'd. definitely looking to pick one up regardless of how "important" it might be. Toyota wouldn't have added it if it didn't serve some purpose.

Still interested to see what others have seen regarding the brace.

I bought my car and it was missing ALL the braces. Turbo to manifold bolts would loosen up all the time. Found all the braces and put them on, no more having to retighten bolts. Your milage may vary...

^^ Similar issue with mine, when purchased, it was missing the top bracket and 3 of the studs holes for EM were stripped (now all re-done with new inserts) Either-way I ended up making one from some flat stock I had laying around...
