mine took kind of long too, all that was done to the block itself was hot tanking new freeze plugs bore .020 over and machine the block surface and the first time they forgot to machine the rear timing case at the same time as the block surface but at least they had the tensioner torqued when they honed the cylinders

at least when it had to go back the surface was alot smoother the second time

If you think he's going to jerk you around, pay him for what he's done and get your motor out of there and to someone who's compitent to do the job.

Mine took about 3 and 1/2 months, he also gave it back to me dirty as can be, look like to took an angle grinder to something right next to it... Not to mention he charged me for checking the clearance on my oil pump shaft bearings and said they were good, only to find out they had about .004" clearance... Also when he machined the head he got alluminum chips between the valves and their seat causeing valve leakage. It was a disaster, you take a big risk when you go to a machine shop, most of them suck.

This is why you bring it to reputable shops, specifically ones on here....not some back woods shop that has never heard of a supra let alone the 7m.

I would pay shipping to cali and back in a heart beat to know my motor was in good hands, and I'm in TN.

To many bullshit machine shops these days. Fuck that.

2.5 weeks is nothing.....took a month to have my head done.....if the guy does good work then be patient....he probably has higher $ jobs that are more important than your engine on the list....that's how it works.

You didn't ask him how much it was going to be BEFORE you gave him your head? Now you're pretty much at his mercy.

I spent that much on parts, but I also needed to get a block. Machine shop costs were another $600, and took about 2 months. I didn't need to get the head machined, and I did the assembly work. And overall, I'm really happy with it. The shop I used was Auto Machine in St. Charles IL, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Just trying to get a feel for your writing "style".
Punctuation, capitalization, and proper spelling is the only way to properly convey the message.
That place did your engine pretty quick if it's already done. 3 weeks is unheard of for a machine shop. Either you got lucky or they're just that good.

Took me 3 weeks and $872 for my machining from Abacus Racing and The Head Shop. I would recommend both highly to anyone.

Don't be so impatient lol

Not bad, depending on what all is being done. I had my glaze on the cylinders broken to allow the new rings to seat, the new rings fitted, everything mic'ed and cleaned, hot tanked, honed where necessary to keep stock clearances for the new bearings, and polished where applicable. I did all of the assembly myself.

For my full (nuthin fancy) rebuild was IIRC 6+ months. Performance cars arent meant to be an everyday driver. Not that they cant be, but you'll run into broken parts from chasing the extra hp or downtime for your parts and repairs etc. Its so much easier to have a DD civic or somehting that will never give you problems like these than to have to endure bumming rides for a month from everyone.
