Ok i have a 1JZ hitting stock ten pounds, with a 3" down pipe/ y-pipe combo, hard pipes and intercooler kit, and a 255 walbro pump.... What should be my new wish list????

I want to tune the thing... Maybe a Apexi NEO or somethin along those lines???

Any Ideas??? Or parts you guy's installed that you enjoyed???

SAFC, 440cc injectors, up the boost to 14psi... those seem to be the most common mods on stock twins. Do you already have an upgraded fuel pump? If not, now's the time to address that.

with my 2jz i have a goal of 500-550 hp.

i am going to tune with a map ecu 2 (just have to wire it in ive been lazy)
i went single turbo and upgraded everything associated to that, exhaust manifold, exhaust, wastegate, blowoff valve, IC and piping, intake
next i plan on the required fuel... top feed fuel rail, injectors to go along with my walboro
possibly water/meth injection after that

Yeah i would kill for the possibility to up boost but for some unknown reason my 1jz wont except a boost controller.....:3d_frown:

Don't waste time with a boost controller yet. Installing separate downpipes off of the turbos, replacing the stock T pipe, will increase your flow HUGE. With that alone, the motor should boost almost to boost cut.

Add on a set of cams to open up the top-end of the 1JZ, and you have a screamer.

That is stock boost setting for the ecu. You will need a boost controller to boost upto the safe 15lbs. I drive 15lbs daily, it is fun 35-80 in 3rd is awesome!!!

Hmm, mine is controlled very well if i turn off my avc-r.

Werd something is wrong.

I was hitting 14psi with my 3" catlessback exhaust and the stock T-pipe

Upgrading the ypipe was instant boost cut in 1st-5th

The turbos haven't been boosting under 15psi since.. with no boost controller.

You will need a boost controller to boost up to (?the safe?) 15lbs.

No you don't.


On a side note, divorced ypipe and cams would be freakin sweet! :biglaugh:

DO NOT RAISE THE BOOST until you figure out why you are boosting so low. You could have dying turbos, multiple boost leaks, etc.

Other cars with y pipe downpipe combo are boosting much more w/ stock ic and turbo setup.

If you are using a pressure regulator (?psi) it will not work with the type of waste gate the twins have. Use the spring plunger type regulator which holds the pressure at desire setting as the other regulator uses vacuum and open pressure. Any pics of that regulator?

dpes anyone know what could be wrong with my set up???

I checked all the pipes and they are all tight!!!

I dont think it's my turbo's, its a fresh JDM motor (not that that means it's perfect) but it runs really smooth and has nice spool.

Hmmmm.... I wounder what the problem is????
