I noticed the needle in the rpm gauge dosnt move/ jump up and down when turning the key????

Do I just need a new igniter?

Since the tach does not operate, you don't really need to look at the ignitor yet. That fires the coil from signals it gets from the ECU. The ECU gives those commands based on signals from the cam position sensor/engine speed sensor.

You likely have lost the pick up somehow. Pick up refering to the signal of engine position/speed.

Lost the pickup??? Do you mean the timing is off? Or the cps is off??

Thanks

Cause that connector was first hooked up 17 years ago. And that was long time ago. While I have never had a problem with mine, apprarently the connector comes loose after a while.

A terminal rebuild kit can fix it, but many just hard wire it together. Although I would not do that.

It also may not be in the connector. Its possibly its in the harness. Check the cps at its connector. If its good, then plug it back in and check it at the ECU. If your readings aren't the same you may have a wiring issue.

i had a no start issue as well and it was my cps wiring, i just hard wired them together and it starts just fine now, i also had to hardwire my coilpack wires because the previous owner hacked up the harness to the igniter in a attempt to get it to start before i bought it
