I was sitting at a light and a grinding noise started. At first I just figured it was a pump or something, no biggie... I pulled into my buddies house which is where I was going in the first place and popped the hood. When I rested my hand on the cam cover I knew right away it wasn't something simple. I felt the grinding through my hand. I have a clear cover so I checked the gears with my flash light and saw one wobbling like a grocery cart wheel and the belt worked itself to the plate behind the gears. Uh oh...
I pulled the cam cover off and checked the bolt... it was VERY loose. Tightened it, started the car and the belt fixed itself right away and the noise went away. It was then I noticed the gear is bent.
I'm kinda worried about the cams now... the intake gear is bent, and it looks like the exhaust gear might be every so slightly wobbling * So slightly its hardly even noticeable *
My question is, with the gear being bent so much it'd loosen itself off the cam, could i have caused any damage? Bending the cam or anything?
Also, are there any other options for aftermarket gears other than AEM or Unorth.?
