Idling problem...

I'm trying to help my friend's 7mgte start, but the engine is doing some funky things. He'll start it and it'll fire up and then immediately die like 1 second after it starts.

We checked for intercooler pipe leaks, but couldn't find any. I even tried to turn up the idle on the throttle body, but it didn't have any kind of effect. Ran codes and got nothing.

However, one thing that we noticed was that if the vacuum line on the BOV was disconnected the car would idle much longer (30 seconds-1 minute).

The only thing I can think of is that the timing belt must be set wrong, because it seems like all the sensors are working or there is some massive vacuum leak somewhere.

Any other ideas would be helpful.

Yeah all the plugs are plugged in. I made sure the AFM was connected because I had that problem a while back because of a break in the wire. :biglaugh:

Say what? It should start and run all day long. It's even drivable. If it won't the engine has other problems.

Technically you could drive the car... you just have to feather the throttle or it'll die. I had to do this a few times.

Well mine would not not run with it not connected anyway. I did some work on it and forgot to reconnect it. It would start but as soon as you rev it it would stall.
