So a couple days ago i finally started the car after about 1 1/2 years
because of a blown head gasket.

Mods since BHG.

OEM HG, ARP Bolts(80lbs), 57 Trim CT26, HKS SSQV Vented to Atmosphere, EGR Blocked off, New OEM Cams, NGK Spark plugs,
2.5" FMIC, and new Gaskets for just about everything, and charcol can removed.

Now i know for a fact someone is going to come on here and be like
well its cause your egr is blocked off and bov vented to atmosphere,
but thats not it cause it was doing this before the BHG...

It will usually fluctuate between 300-900 rpms constantly when just idling
and ive even had it sit for about 20mins to see if it would stop and it didnt,
My Engine light isnt on or anything and all the inside guages look completely
normal... Ive checked all the hoses and checked for leaks.

Once i start driving it the idling issue will go on untill i actually give it gas, and
sometimes it wont even let me give it gas... As in when i push the gas pedal nothing happens.

But once i get on it and hit a little bit of boost everything feels good and bov sounds perfectly normal.

Any advice? Ive tried everything i know to try and ive looked everyone for an answer.

Thanks, Drew

check your AFM plug, theres supossed to be a lil rubber gasket inside the plug. if that gasket isnt there it can mess with the idling.

also check your ISC valve.

I recently had the same idling problem. Here is what I did:

1. Reset ecu using steps from the TSRM
2. Cleaned my K & N air filter thoroughly with cleaning kit
3. New NGK Plugs & wires.

Hope this helps

i hope you're not using the filter oil, a dry filter should be used with the AFM in place, and some residue from the filter oil could dirty the AFM.

I did let my filter dry overnight and I checked for wetness before I put it back on.

Like the rubber gasket for the AFM or what? Im kinda confused on that.

Ill try resetting the ECU Here in a bit,
Ive got brand new spark plugs NGK.

And about the Intake filter idk if this will matter
but i just stuck a little beanie hat over it for now for filteration lol?
Only untill my filter comes in though, the breathing on my beanie is good
though so idk if that would effect it the way it is.

Ill check is ISC valve also, is there anything i should look
for when i get it open/off?

Also after a quick drive up and down the lane to get it to OP tempature
i come back and i hear this pouring sound from under my car and i found
this hose off but i cannot find where it goes for the life of me...
Its a coolant hose cause it had my coolant coming out of it.

to the firewall? no coolant line that size should be where that one is.

Yea it goes straight into the firewall, i was thinking the same thing...

I mean im pretty sure it was coolant cause it was red, not a oily
residue or fuel either...

It was straight pouring.

theres only a couple coolant lines @ the back but they are a pain to get to.
IIRC theres one in the middle back of the head, you might be able to get @ it from the top, and another on the harline coming around the block under the intake mani, but still near the back of the engine.

Are you kidding me thats a 5/8 coolant hose that comes from the damn heater!!!!!!! Do you even have any coolant in your cooling system??? BHG again if you dont. That line plugs on the left side of the booster :3d_frown: and the other end is pluged to the shiny tube that runs from the front/right side, around the block and it diverts to the 5/8 hose in your picture and a 3/8 line that goes to your throttle body.:aigo:

I pulled up the TSRM and look at the isc valve on the picture and went out and took
mine off, it was in exactly like the picture. i even lubed it up a tad...

Oh ya and i noticed when my car is running and the rpms drop to around 200-300
my CEL comes on just for a second then when my rpms go back up it goes off....?

The hose in question connects to a nub on the firewall and routes coolant to your heater core.

When you turn the car off the ISC should make a clicking noise. Open your hood, roll down your window, start the car, get out and close the door, reach in and turn the car off, then stick your head under the opened hood and listen for a clicking noise that lasts ~1.5 seconds. If you do NOT hear the clicking noise, then your ISC needs to be replaced.

Have you checked for codes?

ALSO: Your CEL turning on and off as the idle dips is normal. That is NOT normal idle; but, normal to see the CEL doing that under that condition.

Well when i turn my car off i hear a clicking sound but it doesnt sound
like its coming from my engine, more of from inside the car lol.

And no i havent checked for codes yet since i dont have an SST yet or
whatever its called to connect the things to check for codes, not only that i didnt think it was needed since my CEL wasnt even on.
