ok so recently i have started to see a lot od smoke comming out the supra, most likely it is my turbo seals, but i am going to do a compression test later, i have a friend that told me to check my pcv system, because he said that he had a pcv system valve go bad, and his car started to smoke a lot, but do we have a pcv valve or anything like that, that might also cause it to smoke badly? If it is my turbo seals, how much should i be looking to spend to have it rebuilt, and with a trim? well please and thanks ricardo

What color smoke is it Ricardo? If it's white, then it could possibly be the HG. If it's black then it's oil from somewhere. Just thought I would ask. If it's the pcv, then you may can just get a catch can and hook it up. I'm not positive, but thought I would try and help...................lol

black smoke could also mean extreme richness. blue smoke would be the valve seals and guides are allowing oil into the combustion chamber. white smoke is oil burning typically so the oil seals could be the culprit or it could be the headgasket.

is the car overheating? is it burning anything other than oil? best thing i can say to do is do a compression check to make sure on the HG. after that the catch can might be an idea but its rare taht i see the pcv goes bad.

Iirc the pcv system on the supra is the two nipples on the back side of the 3k pipe on the valve covers. There is no valve that I know of or have seen when I redid mine for the catch can. There will be a short rubber vacume hose coming off the throttle body to the metal tube that connects the two nipples together. Follow that tube and you will see that it ends and becomes a rubber hose that is piped into the accordian hose.

Assuming that you pcv system is still stock (most likely), check the two short rubber hoses that connect the nipples on the valve covers to the metal tubing. They tend to crack up and leak badly.

The downside to the 7m's pcv system is that is allows oil to condense into the accordian hose, ic piping, and really condense in the intercooler itself. This results in a loss of your intake system's efficiency.

I seriously doubt this is where your problem is with the smoke. Have someone confirm where it's actually coming out from (probably the exhaust).

BTW...Correct pronunciation is your friend ;). Now I know I'm not the perfect speller or grammer specialist either, but please, write in full sentences.

Thanks!

White smoke is coolant, not oil as stated above.
I'm with starscream about PCV...no valve, and probably not the problem.
If your smoke is blue, I'm thinking valve seals, turbo seals, or rings. Compression/leakdown tests should eliminate rings. When are you seeing the smoke? Startup, idle, acceleration, boost? That might help narrow it down a little more...

I have had 2 turbo's (stock, used) crap out on me. They have a little bit of shaft play but nothing drastic. I have came to the conslusion after several comp/leakdown tests, that this must be turbo seals. It only smokes coming out of boost.

Hey whats up guys? Thank you for all your help, I just did a compression test, and it looks good, I am getting around 175 psi each cylinder. Yea i am sure it is the turbo seals then right? The car only smokes at boost for what I see, and it is a lot of smoke, but just let me know what you think, please and thanks ricardo

it should run you about 450 i think? hit up MDCmotorsports on here, hes a vendor. Anyway get it trimmed 12-14, it seems like eveeryone is doing that, upgrade to a 57 trim and be happy boosting.
