starting off, i just read just about every thread that turned up in search about chaser 1jz's, because the company i bought my 1jz from sent me the wrong engine, and im considering my options.
i understand what i need to do about the oilpan/sump.
do i need a chaser ecu? or will my supra ecu run it?
what motor mounts and brackets do i need?
do i need a chaser harness, or are the supra and chaser similar enough?
what are peoples thoughts on the trc, and is there a way to disable it, aka a switch or something?
basically, am i better off making the company take it back and ship me the right one, or have them send me the parts that i need to convert it?
i have temporally refused delivery on it, and the shipping company is giving me a week to work it out. because on the invoice taped to the engine, it clearly says rear sump supra, but the engine has a front sump and trc on the throttle body.

thanks for your patience and input

It will save you a lot of money and a huge headache if you just return it and you get the rear sump supra motor.

what company did you get your motor from?

and like everyone says, just get the right motor

my motor was originally a chaser, and its just been a pain in the ass sourcing the right parts for it and everything.

sounds like thats what im gonna be doing (getting a new engine), and im not gonna disclose the company until they either work with me, or screw me, because i know mistakes happen, and id rather not start tearing apart a company if theyre gonna do the right thing

Wouldn't you rather know if that company has had a history of fixing problems or fucking people over?

you can still use a supra harness and ecu on the chaser motor.you'll need to source the supra motor mount's and rear sump pan though.the trc is no big deal and the supra harness won't have a plug for it anyway's.you'll just have the big ugly tb.i do believe the ic pipe off the twins to the ic is a little sharper bend

yup, the pipe is pointed straight out to the fender instead of towards the front a lil

well i dealt with the company, and they are paying for shipping both ways to fix the problem. r&t motors, theyre helpful guys, when you can get a hold of either of them...which is only about 10% of the time...but none the less, good helpful guys

also, its doubtful, but is i figured id ask..is it possible for a 2jz harness to run a 1jz off of a 1jz ecu? if so, that would probably mean you wouldnt need to lengthen it. right?
if you were going to run a 2jz harness, you would want to run a 2j ecu.i'm sure you could cut the ecu plug's off and wire in the 1j ecu plug's,but that would be a bad idea giving how un-reliable the 1j ecu's are.

are there any downfalls to running a 2j ecu and harness, because its looking like thats going to be the quickest way to get my car back on the road. and it being my every day driver, i need it to be well driving. plus i wouldnt have to extend it right? and does it have to be a 5 speed mkiv or would the 6 work too/

either way you are going to do a lot of wiring... you could always pay drtweak to do it if you are set on it

i have no problem doing the wiring myself. unfortunately, i cant afford dr tweaks services. i am looking for the most cost efficient and quickest way to get my car back on the road. and i have been looking for a jza70 harness for about a month and a half now. there seems to be a much more abundant supply of 2jz harnesses out there, along with ecu's. what im wondering is if theres any downfalls to running a 2jz ecu. on a 1jz, and if it has to be a 5 speed?

i see, well thanks for the info. guess i still gotta find myself a jza70 harness...i already have the ecu. but theres a real shortage of harnesses out there.

My buddy has a jza70 harness he will be selling in about a month.. prewired for a 89 and all ready extended.. Hes going with a 2jz harness and GForce ecu, works flawless in his car. its prewired for 550s and everything.
