I am getting ready to install the motor in my 87, so I can get back on the road. I have my motor and tranny ready, and was checking out the engine compartment to be sure it was ready. When I removed the old motor from this car, I forgot the lines to the oil cooler until they were stretched tight, so I just cut them. So, I pulled the short pieces of cut hose off the oil cooler, and fond both lines to be full of what looked like chocolate ice cream still in them from the BHG mixture. Can I clean this out? Or should I just change my oil after the first 20 miles or so?

Also, since it has been a while since removal, I am not positive on the tranny wiring. I have a 2-prong plug on my wiring harness, and a 2-prong plug at the tranny. The motor and tranny are new but the harness and tranny wiring are the same ones used before. But, I lack about 6 inches to get them together. Do I have my harness positioned wrong, or is there some other explanation? Is there possibly a wire on the body to connect to the tranny?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

its just reverse lights....so either extend it on one end or make it work some other way....or simply dont have reverse lights lol....

as for the oil issue... if you are running a bhg repaired engine make sure to flush the cooling and the oil system out VERY well after repair... as in run car for like a minute or two and then change oil...and run car with pure water to begin with let it cycle through and then change to coolant...

if not the contamination could cause rod knock in the future.

hope that helps.

The engine is a replacement, because I drove it a good while with slight water loss. It wasn't until I had a mechanic do a pressure test on it that it finally really let go. It was funny, it passed the pressure test, and he was convinced it was not a BHG. I said BS, and 2 days later it would no longer hold water at all. But I am re-using the radiator and oil cooler. Is there an easy way to clean out the oil cooler before I put it all together?

********Edit........Damn I type slow
