but, much more importantly........

ef70-200_28lisu_586x225.jpg

70-200 F/2.8 L-series Image-Stabilized pocketbook-burner. This is Canon's fastest telephoto-zoom lens currently offered. Hooray for credit cards with 12 months of no interest (no more purchases on that card till its paid; said card is currently pinned to a piece of cork board in my trailer)

That lens and my 4GB 40MB/second CF card will arrive next week; I'm currently sporting an 18-55 IS lens and a 128MB 5MB/sec CF card :D

I almost bought the 28-300 L-series lens, but it lacks the speed of this lens (it's F/5.6 at the long end)

Once this shit is paid off, i'm either getting the 135mm F/2.0, or more likely either the 85mm F/1.2 or the 50mm F/1.2

Pics to come in the following days.....

The body is pretty sweet. At least your getting the right manufacturer ;)

That lens is pure sex. Vary nice. FIL will also like it.

Nice! My buddy with a 1D has the 70-200 2.8 L, its an incredible lens. Nikon makes a comparable lens (also a 70-200 f/2.8), but i'm getting a 50mm prime f/1.4 before I spring for the 70-200. Very nice choice in lenses, looking forward to seeing shots.

you guys are making me feel better about buying this stuff :D everyone else around me is either saying "why would you pay so much for a lens" or they are saying "you know that Canon 70-300 is only like 200 bux".......

I'll say this: i thought the "image stabilization" was just a gimmick when i first started working at wolf, but after messing with some of these IS lenses, the effect at the long end is impressive. I have high hopes for my new lens.

Canon's IS and Nikon's Vibration reduction are nice, but don't even worry about Quantaray's 'Optical Stabilization'. I hardly notice any difference with those lenses. Dunno about Sigma's or Tamron's equivalent, we don't have any of those lenses here.

Fuck 'em. It's your money and you can spend it how you please. I'll be willing to bet you'll have this equipment for many, many years, so it'll be worth it.
Congratulations!

I just got a bad case of lens envy.

Me too. It has more girth than my Minolta!
