Ok I took to a shop on a friend's refferal

The mechanic tells me it's the rod bearings.


Suggestions?.......I'm open to them.

What do you mean.. suggestions for what?

We can rebuild him, make him bigger, better, stronger, faster

Min repairs: Pull the motor pull the oil pan off and replace the rod bearings.

Max repairs total rebuild from top to bottom.

You COULD do a repair for $100 just not recommended..

well it sounds like rod bearings... I'd probably turn the crank before reusing it...

spend $100 and risk it throwing a rod or getting Rod knock again.

Or spend $3k do it right and do it once.

no I agree I wasn't disagreeing with him... I was just saying it's cheaper to do it yourself and that way your garaunteed... just follow toyota specs and you'll be fine... w/ the exception of a mhg and arps...

i wasnt saying you were disagreeing $3k to rebuild a motor with performance parts and have it hold up to anything you throw at it.

Well, the mechanic gave me 2 suggestions.

let hime do the work. = $3000

OR,

Buy another engine that has the work done w/ a 3year warranty. = $2400

For $3k you can have an entire motor built. New rings new gaskets seals, bearings everything..

i have a rebuilt shortblock for sale, use your head or buy another rebuilt head that i have aswell.

and like i stated earlier i can have your motor rebuilt for cheaper than the price you were quoted for.

Lagged - I might be interested in your rebuilt short block if Sonex isn't interested. What are you asking? I'm considering rebuilding mine while the head's off, but I could change my mind if the price is right.
