Yes, I crashed my supra into a tree.
This is what happened.
I was taking a turn and saw a dog in middle of the road.
I hit the brake and car started to skid side way towards the dog.
It was rainy day.
I hit accel to avoid killing the dog.
I missed the dog but after that, I lost control of my car.
I skid side way again and hit a tree.

I am not here to discuss whether I should have killed the dog and save mint condition supra or what I did was right even though I dont know how much it would cost to fix my car. I did what I did cause that's what's right in my head.
I have a dog myself and if someone killed my dog, I would crash my supra into the person who killed my dog.

Anyway, now I am looking for a driver's side door and everything you see on those pictures and think I need.

Thanks all for your help and sorry to double post on supraforum and here.

oops, forgot to mention. My car is 89 targa.

That is sooo gay. You did the right thing by swivering past that dog though. If I read about somebody nailing a dog instead of attempting to dodge it - I hope we would kick their a#& of the site.

Anyways total props to you. Hope insurance and the body work goes smooth. Karma will come around and take care of you!!!!

Man that sucks, but its hard to say what ne1 would have done in this situation.
Hope you fix her back up.

O yea, and my dog that was 17 years old, and still kicking (had been in 3 fights that should have killed him, (stomach ripped out, throat bit into, and hit by a car)) we live on 50 acres dont ask me why he liked the road, but so old lady hit him on the road that is 20mph through our neighborhood at about 50, I'm glad it was my dog, and not one of the many young kids we have in our area, but i was mad at her because she left him to die, broke his back he layed on the road for 2 hours before our neighbor came and found him. some people, no respect. so i now what u mean when u avoided the dog, im glad you did too.

Just want to make sure i am correct or not.

targa has the silver metal thing that attaches to the body to make more stable right?

Thanks

Hopefully there was not any significant frame damage, The condition of the lower rocker in targa is significant because it must carry more load. I have seen effect of poor frame repair. It had poor welding and bondo done that hid rust that developed after the repair. The car broke into three peices when in its next accident and ejected the driver into a balistic trajectory with the driver landing on his head and causing severe head/brain injuries.:aigo:

that rocker panel needs replaced and then once it is off you will be able to see how much structural damage was done. Hope all works out and thank you for saving the dog.

sorry for the bad luck, but that dog would have been dead in my book.

what happens if you save the dogs life by swerving and missing him, then you convene into person walking down the side walk instead of a tree? yup, jail time.

-- but wait officer... i swerved so i wouldn't hit a dog in the middle of the road. officer: "what dog?" you: "oh i'm sure he ran away, but he was there!"

discuss...

our natural instinct says to avoid the dog. especially since it's the obstruction in the road. we dont think: "if i try to miss that dog, i'm going to hit a tree"

there's no time for that. you did what pretty much everyone else would have done. i'd have done the same thing. good luck with the rebuild!

exactly...i'm in the midst of fixing my damage after loosing control from avoiding a deer. Sometimes I think I should have hit the sucker, I could use a new front bumper anyway. Good thing there wasn't any structural damage though, that would have been much worse than just a quarter panel.
