Edit: BTW this is a RPS 3200lb PP 6puck spring combo

Just my luck as normal with cars. I was driving around and lost pressure in the clutch. I can barely get it in first, it goes all the way to the floor and engages very violently.

Its been slowly leaking fluid awhile now, i think there was a loose nut on the slave so i tightened it a few weeks back and really hasn't been bad since.

Not sure whats going on as i have 0 fluid loss, and there is a rather violent pulsation in the clutch now...not sure what this pulsation is if someone could explain...

Does this sound like master or slave going?

thats what happened to mine, it was still coming back up but somewhat hesitating, shifting was somewhat hard, untill it really didnt come back up. replaced master and slave with oem toyota and it works fine since

check the carpet under the pedal to feel for any wetness.

The pulsation thing sounds more like either a broken diaphram or pivot ring in the pressure plate.

Its these things i'm worried about.

Though it grabs very hard if that changes anything as what you describe has to do with the pressure plate

Did you bleed the system after you fixed the leak?

no, never had a problem with it until now.

I'm with IJ, it's more than likely a component of the pressure plate or clutch disk. One of the springs in the disc may be worn out, loose, or missing, too.

Only way to know anything is to jack the car up and pull the inspection plates and have a look.

Could be any number of things, sounds a lot like when the bolts backed out on the claw that holds the clutch fork in, low pedal, and the fork touched the pressure plate causing pulsation...

i also had the clutch pedal fall and get stuck to the floor which is why i suspected the master/slave but ill pull off the cover....

Will there be metal shavings or anything obvious???

Are you bypassing the clutch to start the car? I keep reading about crankwalk from the RPS 3200lb plate... I REALLY hope that's not it.

Don't let me scare you though lol

I come from a land down under
When you crank the Car with the clutch pressed in you're pushing the crank forward into the thrust bearing, on a dry start there's litle to no Oil between the two surfaces and this chops the thrust bearing down allowing the crank to "walk" backwards and forwards in the engine.

^ohhhh yea. ok, well the only thing that happens cold is when i push in the clutch it starts normal and when i let the clutch out the car pulls forward a bit. This has ALWAYS happened though and doesn't happen when warm. I've read this is very common with the RPS 3200 PP/clutch combo though.

EDIT: the past week/week/half i've noticed a strange knocking noise. Sounds like something is loose. Only happens cold. And when im on a downhill slope, ie engine bay pointing down, it is much more noticeable. Sounds like it coming from behind driver side dash. Gaboonviper and i tried to troubleshoot it but were at a loss. Was RPM dependent but not sounding as though internally RPM dependent if that makes sense.

IJ, is there anything obvious i can look for when i pull the lower trans plate tom?

Shouldn't pull forward at all...

again, i have read up on this. though it shouldn't do this, i find its normal among the users of the clutch setup. Not sure why, probably why it heats up so quick in traffic, but it does.

With all the craptastic reviews of that clutch, I'll never run it. Crankwalk, stacked diaphrams getting out of alignment, engadgement issues, hydraulic system failure...

But as you're already running it, about the only thing you can do is inspect the parts and see what went wrong...

same pp with clutch bypassed for starts and no issues. crank walk should drop the rpms when you push the clutch in and there will be measurable movement on the crank pulley. (pulls IN)

if there is scrapes or wear patterns in the front lower timing case, you have issues....

^ill look for anything noticeable though, actually the RPM's go down when the clutch is NOT engaged. I assume this is for the same reason as why the car moves forward slightly when cold.
