I just replaced my head gasket it was blown i was getting zero compression. , replaced the distributor bc all inside of it the magnets were all destroyed and torn up with plastic bits broken everywhere. and it runs now but it runs like shit i can only get it to idle with something shoved in the AFM but that might just be bc i changed the intake piping . it sounds like its not running on all cylinders. or something. idk what it is. im pretty sure the timing is fine. and no im not getting any engine codes.

did you say something shoved into the AFM? Explain that please.

Kinda curious.. did you redo the head gasket yourself? Normally if its bad enough to get zero compression, you have more than just a gasket issue... (is why I ask). Sounds like someone took a baseball bat to your engine.
Me personally.. would love to see a photo of your engine bay as it sits right now to see if there's anything obvious... that "shoved in the AFM" makes me wonder a whole LOT of things... : )

Yes i redid the gasket myself but the head and block were resurfaced ive rebuilt this engine before and its ran fine no problems until one day. but ever since it died. im getting no life out of it. . and as for shoving something in the AFM instead of jumping the fuel pins . i just take a screwdriver and push the AFM Flap open to shoot more fuel in the event that it doesnt start up or want to idle, that's how i can figure out if there is a vacuum issue. an the engine isnt capable of opening the flap itself.

actually now that i think about it . i didnt connect the one ground that goes to the head. to the back of the fire wall. but it isnt running any different from when it originally died so i didnt question if that was the problem. i also started unplugging the spark wires to see if i could get it to do something different. maybe idle worse or Die. there was no change when unplugging wires 1 or 6 , or plugging them back in . i also tried putting them close to metal and no spark came out. but i think you have to get a nail or something to make arcs happen on the 7m wires.

Right off the bat in those pictures:

-BVSV (the blue/brass on top of the thermostat) vacuum hose looks disconnected. That'd cause a vacuum leak. Bad.
-Check the power steering vacuum hose under the accordian. Is it plugged in? If not, that's another air leak. Bad.

It's hard to tell much else from the picture. A clearer picture might help.

If nothing obvious jumps out you should do another compression check. I had a stuck valve on my last head shortly after I replaced the Head Gasket. That was an expensive way to learn first hand why soft heads are bad news beyond exhaust studs pulling out. :(

i know all about the evil vacuum hoses the ps is def connected. turns out the BVSV was disconnected i reconnected it, and i feel like i should do another compression check. even though all my valves have been tested and seated properly with no bends. the head was also tested all at a shop. and the engine is a bitch to rotate with the spark plugs in so thats a somewhat positive sign to me. any ideas about why nothing happened when i unplugged spark wires 1 and 6 how come the engine didn't die? or stumble or something. it does definitely sound like its not running on all its cylinders

Check the condition of your spark plugs as well, specifically the electrode gap. Might be some of the electrodes got closed down during re-installation. Also the set your TPS using the TSRM guide, and while you're at it, pull the IACV and check it's condition as well. Hope you get it worked out!

Could be a bad or unplugged coil. 1/6 are connected on the same coil. Make sure the coil is getting its 12v at the connector.

I have a 7mge it only has one coil ? ill check the tps, my IACV looks pretty abused but i dont think it would cause two cylinders not to fire our fire badly.

no i dont have any money to rent a comp test. and top it all off the compression tester doesnt really fit on my supra if you tilt it or anything it will just leak air . so its pretty useless. next up turns out my coil isnt firing anymore. i tried hooking up different wires to it with a spark plug at the end. and nothing. no fire. so i decided to do a ohm test on it . primary resistance its out of range. secondary resistance its fine. i also checked the wiring too the coil and its not brittle cracked or broken. I also peeled back the insulation on the CPS wiring and no cracks or bends.

CPS wiring? I thought you had an N/A motor? There isn't a CPS on the 7MGE.

Most auto stores will have a compression tester to rent/loan. It's free as long as you return it. If you dont have the $40-80 to float while you rent it I'm not sure we can help, lol.
