I come from a land down under
my "guess" is the BoV would eventually sieze up from contaminants in the Exhaust Gases.

Unless you run an open exhaust there's always going to be some back pressure and when the BoV is shut the Pipe between it and the DP is going to fill up.

You'd need to plumb it in a decent distance past the O2 sensor, or that would get screwed up readings whenever your BOV opened. The check valve would be required, I think.

If you run a cat, I expect it would burn a hell of a lot hotter from the extra O2. I doubt it would make any extra flames out the back, chances are anything combustable would burn before the exhaust hit the open atmosphere.

If you use the Bosch type BOV it's going to suck on the exhaust gas when the intake is under vac conditions. (Mine is hardly ever there actually, but I'm running two Bosch type, Porsche spec. valves, and I think it's one of the reasons my engine is so responsive. They act like a short cut for intake air to bypass the turbo and IC/Pipes so your TB see's air sooner, at least while there's vac in the intake.

My car setup as it is right now, goes from 20hg to 0 just about 2000rpm. (1800 some days, 2100 others, also depends on the gear I'm in, and the load on the engine.) Basicly It is making boost anytime above 2k for the most part, and full boost before 3k in most cases. (15psi or more.) Very fun to drive on the street plumbed this way, with this bolt on T4 60 trim, stage V exhaust side.

I really think one of the reasons it's so quick is the extra easy air fed to the motor when it needs it to get going down low, and that extra exhaust volume helps to spool up the turbo faster etc.

Don't do that Jon. :)

Run it into the compressor side of the turbo, unless you're like me and have a VPC. Or run an open BOV, in addition to the stocker hooked up per toyota and you'll not have to worry about it stalling.

PS.. I see you GF all the time on campus.

Your exhaust pressure is almost always higher than the boost pressure, so it wouldn't vent.

Without that check valve you mentioned, it would be the worlds biggest EGR valve. :)
